Elastic or 'ACE' type bandages provide compression and support for sprained or strained muscles and are often times used to hold gauze compresses or ice packs in place. While the elastic bandages are popular, there are alternatives to the typical bandage which frequently uses clips or pins to hold them in place. Self adhering, or 'cohesive' bandages are an effective alternative. These bandages stick to themsleves and not the hair or skin.
